Debian, held still
Packages come from Debian stable. The running host does not keep a package manager in the loop. An update is a new signed image, and the previous one still boots.

A shell when it is sick
The default set is small enough to read on one screen: ssh, network, time, containers. Root stays available for a person who has to see why a node failed.
Speech before questions
The boot menu is five numbered entries. Full speech and console speech start after the kernel, so a blind operator can answer the install prompts.
What exists
This site is the public face. Nothing here is an image you can boot. The account, the API, the log, the service, and the platform are specified on their pages. None of them accept a passphrase.
